In nostalgia i remember the good old days when we used to advice clients about a place say Lake Nakuru, the Aberdares and the guest will actually not question even about pictures of the place but they would make their deposits and come go to the safari and come back a happy lot - because they we even surprised by the animals and the nature. Coming to the recent days there is a lot of information, lots of it trust me on the internet, magazines, brochures, etc that have information about place, in fact its would almost be considered a crime if you didn’t have virtual information about places to visit...On a typical scenario we show you a video of a place or picture of a lion killing its dinner...then you will probably purchase the package holding onto that thought...but wait a minute-do you know when this video was taken, the picture, magazine, ladies and gentlemen these are animals and like us humans we mover around. Unless is in a zoo or orphanage like we have in Nairobi please don’t tell your agent that you saw a lioness with a baby gazelle in samburu or tsavo and that you want to go see it – please don’t……that is why we have the term game viewing drive our driver guides have to go on a search and locate mission with you in the vehicle to as to fulfilling the thirst of seeing the animal live…and hey when the driver tells you lets wait for a moment..Please exercise patience. He most probably has seen a sign such as the vulture circulating somewhere he knows there is a kill and the preys are either there or coming towards there. So the next time you are thinking wildlife think of the good old days – where the next destination was a pure surprise. |
