Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing

Ascend and Descend on Marangu Route

6 nights / 7 Days

DAY 1: NAIROBI - ARUSHA

We depart from Nairobi by shuttle bus to moshi arriving at 3.00 p.m. to check in to the moshi Hotel, lunch will be taken at a stopover along the journey.
Dinner and overnight at hotel.

DAY 2: ARUSHA -MANDARA HUT
we leave Arusha, after Breakfast to Marangu gate for registration and ascent to Mandara Hut. The climb to Mandara hut lasts between (4-5 hours).

DAY 3:  MANDARA HUT TO HOROMBO HUT
After Breakfast, we emerge from the Forest to open moorlands and the first views Kibo taking about 5 to 7 hours depending on your pace to Horombo Hut.
Dinner and overnight (Horombo Hut -3700M)


DAY 4: HOROMBO HUT - KIBO HUT
We move up past the "Last Water" to emerge on the saddle - a spectacular view of the high altitude desert, past Mawenzi. Trekking time is (5-7 hours) depending on your pace.

DAY 5: - UHURU PEAK - HOROMBO HUT –MANDARA HUT
The climb begins at 2 a.m. to Gillman's point on the crater rim. (5860m) then on up to Uhuru peak (5896m) taking about 3 hours. We descend further to Horombo hut after reaching the summit.
Dinner and Overnight at (Horombo Hut -3700M)

DAY 6:  MANDARA HUT - MARANGU GATE – ARUSHA


We trek further down from Horombo Hut to Marangu gate then proceed to moshi

DAY 7; ARUSHA- NAIROBI

Morning breakfast transfer back to Nairobi via Moshi and Arusha to arrive in the evening.

BREAKFAST

Beverages

Consists of the following which are interchanged

Tea, coffee, served with milk, chocolate, porridge.

Solid food

Bread served with omelets, pancakes, sausages, conflakes/wheatabix, and doughnuts

Fruits,

Passion fruit, oranges, pineapples, bananas,

Lunch

Nodules served with beans accompanied by whole meal bread and passion juice with salad or French sandwitch served with overcardo and onion salad with hot coffee or mango juice

1st evening tea

Tea, coffee, chocolate served with variety of snacks eg high energy biscuits, popcorns, crips, doughnuts

Appetizer

Oxtl soup served with whole bread. Or tomato soup

Supper

Spaghetti with baked fish accompanied with meat stew, 2nd night chicken served with rice and African chapatti--- smashed potatoes served with French peas and backed fish with a variety of greens.

2nd late tea

Coffee, tea and chocolate served with milk.

CLIMBING GEAR

NB: gear can be hired IF REQUIRED

Here is a brief list of things you will need for the trek
 
-camping bag for personal gear
-A sleeping bag
- A good pair of comfortable walking boots which are reasonably stiff or
-Other shoes which have plenty of ankle support. [Sneakers at the campsite]
-A waterproof jacket (waterproof trousers are advisable)
-warm woolen socks 3 pairs
-A spare set of warm clothes e.g. warm jumper, warm jacket- waterproof
  Shirts nylon material if available
-Water bottle
-Torch/head lamp
-Warm headgear [malvin]
-Gloves water proof
-Items necessary to protect you from the sun. [Sun glasses], hat or cap
-lotion
