GUIDES AND SCOUTS TRIPS IN KENYA ![]() For centuries the Guides and Scouts have paid tribute to their founder Lord Baden Powell. When Baden-Powell first came to Africa in 1894 he fell in love with the African countryside, its wildlife and outdoor lifestyle. In 1912 he married Lady Olave and together worked tirelessly at promoting the Girl Guide and Scout movement in various parts of the World. In 1938, B-Ps were back in Kenya and lived in their new home (PAXTU) in Nyeri. Lord Baden Powell passed on and was burried as he wished in sight of Mount Kenya in the Nyeri cemetry. Their home PAXTU has beed preserved in their memory. Having been a Girl Guide as well i have had the opportunity to interact with many Girl Guides and Scouts from all over the world. After the scouts moot of 2010 i gathered many ideas from the scouts troop i helped organise their safari to the maasai mara and i took the courage to approach one hotel that is soo important to us to negotiate for special rates for the Guides and Scouts of the World. To qualify for these rates you must be a member of WAGGGS or WOSM in your respective member organization. Must were your uniform and scarf to enter PAXTU. Below is a two day program which can be adjusted according to your preferences Program for 2-7 people Day 1: 0800hrs. Depart from Nairobi and drive to Nyeri . On arrival drive to the grave side and visit respetive offices for Guides or Scouts of Nyeri. Then later drive to the hotel where you check in and have lunch. you will then depart with other people for the Aberdares National Park for the overnight. In here you will view the wildlife from the balcony or hideaway place. Beware the viewing goes throughout the night as one of the Girl guides experience wrote on trip advisor. You may also want to know that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth made history when she became Queen from this hotel. Dinner and overnight will be at the Treetops hotel. Day 2: Breakfast, drive back to the Outspan hotel. Visit PAXTU and take your time then leave for Nairobi or next destination at leisure. Depart from Nairobi and drive to Nyeri .Clients arrive at Outspan in time for a sumptous buffet lunch served at the terrace with a backdrop of Mt. Keny. Central Kenya is home of the Kikuyu one of the largest tribe's in Kenya. Learn more about their traditon nd culture at the Kikuyu village located in the compound. The Lord Baden Powell tour stqrts at 2.45pm first cleints assemble at Treetops reception and proceed to PAXTU Musuem. We start with a 20-30 minute lecture on B-P history and view some of his books and portrait found in teh musuem. We consuled the lecture by taking a hlf hour leisure walk to B-P grave site in Nyeri town and return by 5.00pm in time for tea and pastires served on the lawn near bird bath in front of PAXTU. Dinner and overnight will be at the Treetops hotel. Day 2: After breakfast go on a bird walk int he expanse Outspan grounds and learn about the flora found in this area. Spend the rst of the morning at leisure. At 2.30m proceed to treetops a 30 minutes drive from Outspan. enviroment conservation is part of our motto and live to this and to commemorrate your stay, on arrival at Treetops you will plant a tree in one of the paddocks. You will then check in at the lodge for afternoon tea, dinner and overnight. Day 3: Breakfast is served either at Treetops then clients depart at leisure.
